B.R.E.W. Time!

Our ministry has taken on quite a different outward appearance over the past few years since I was 'put on my back'.

While Shame/Honour research continues in various ways, Counselling, Mentoring, and Christian literature and media distribution have taken on a more 'informal' approach often just as (but not limited to) folk 'drop in' for a visit.

Recently on a blogpost I wrote about 'Facebook vs Face to Face' time, and the importance of personal interaction with people that is not via electronic media.  Despite being on my back, God has graciously provided many opportunities for folk to come for a face-to-face visit, which often becomes an opportunity for them to share the burdens of their heart at the time, as they pause for a bit and enjoy fellowship.

As I got thinking about these special times with friends and the opportunities God has given me to bless others and be blessed by others, I came up with an acronym to describe and give a name to these times.

Its B.R.E.W. Time!

- that's

B - 'bearing one another's burdens'

R - 'rejoice with those who rejoice'

E - 'encourage and pray for each other'

W - 'weep with those who weep'

I kind of like it 'cos a friend of mine back in OZ has what she calls a 'tea and talks' or 'coffee and chats' ministry of just spending time with folk, sharing fellowship and 'being there' sharing Christ's love.  And I like BREW also because it has the concept of letting the coffee 'brew' (as opposed to letting anger brew!), and the 'pause' and 'quiet' and 'rest' while it brews and gets stronger. This has a parallel for me of pausing with a friend as we take some 'time out' to 'pause' in the busyness to share together and be God's instruments to encourage/strengthen each other so that we might better be the aroma of Christ in the world we are in!  How's that for an explanation?

So....are you in need of some BREW Time or a 'BREW' Break!?

Is there someone you could encourage with a BREW break?
