The bush around us is almost totally a dull grey or sandy colour - hardly anything green to be seen. And what is green doesn't look too great either.
Even some of the succulents are shrivelling up.
In fact it feels like one of the driest seasons we have had.
Yet in the midst of a seeming almost total absence of life, there are signs that all is not lost and some plants are managing to actually produce flowers!
....including these 'softer than rabbit fur' bottle brush like ones
...and these ones coming on some aloe plants in our garden
...and the ever prolific bouganvillea that seem to somehow do best in the driest of times
What a reminder that even though the view all around might be only one of dry land it doesn't mean we have to join in....
Surrounding barrenness doesn't need to dictate our own condition, even though it may not be too encouraging when we look around us!
God can make something beautiful in and of our lives
- something different from what surrounds us
- something that His light can shine through,
so that those looking may have cause to look to the Creator of that beauty!
'Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven'
Matthew 5:16
