December! .....already?

It's nearly Christmas time again, where has the year gone?

Surely 12 months haven't passed….has it truly been so long?

Christmas sales are advertised, shops are playing Christmas songs,

The calendar says 'December', and I know that couldn't be wrong!

I better check those Christmas gifts and get wrapping for family overseas,

Then there are decorations to hang and food to stock the deep freeze,

The 'to do list', is long and consumes my mind with all that's needed 

BUT…. All this hustle, is overtaking the real reason for the season.

What will I GET for Christmas, is the child's primary thought

But the Father above, GAVE His son, so our redemption was bought.

He sent Jesus to this earth so by His death salvation was wrought

The baby in the manger - through the cross, to us New Life Has brought.

Familiar carols like 'Silent Night', and the shining star a-top the tree

Fill our hearts with Christmas joy, but are meant to point to the nativity.

When the Saviour was born Shepherds left their flocks, and Wise Men came to see.

Christ is the reason for Christmas: Come now, worship Him as King!
