The rain came down and then the sun came out!

Remember that little Nursery Rhyme:

Incy Wincy Spider climbed up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed poor incy out
Out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain
And Incy Wincy Spider climbed up the spout again

Well the rain finally came down and we got about 70 mm over 4 days - rivers started running, power went out and the ants got flooded and had to build air vents to their tunnels

The plants have been amazingly quick in taking up the water and going from dry and wrinkled to fat and lush in just a few days

Such good rain and then gentle warm sun to follow has given the plants such a boost that trees are now starting to look green again, and new shoots are appearing.

Not only are  the plants happy but it is the trigger for all kinds of bugs and butterflies to emerge - flying ants were swarming, sebokolodi millipedes are everywhere, butterflies are all over and I even spotted some spectacularly arrayed kind of 'fly'? that I had not seen before.
- the little white dots are part of the swarm of flying ants that arrived after the rain
A Sebokolodi (millipede - its also the word that is used here for a train!) crawling down our house wall

And isn't this guy amazing!...God had so much fun designing and decorating His creation!

And there's just a fresh sense of 'clean' in the air from the bush all being washed clean of the dust and dirt that has filled the air for many months.

Mind you I was amazed that within three days after the rain, daytime humidity was dropping back down to around 10%!......such is life at the Edge of the Kalahari!
