Our Safari was also a feast of brilliantly beautiful Scenery…..
Yes - the mighty Victoria Falls
A view from the Victoria Falls Hotel looking across to the spray from the falls and an awesome rainbow below the bridge that links Zimbabwe with Zambia
The Chobe River sparkling in the morning sun
Even the old dead trees were beautiful in the glow of the afternoon sun
Sunset across the Chobe River looking to the Namibia side
A not so pretty vista! - a fairly fresh (by the smell) carcass of an elephant - not sure if it died of natural causes or poachers.
Botswana has a permanent military base in the Chobe National Park for their 'Anti-Poaching Unit' to try to minimise this problem.
This peaceful scene of the river, the bush, the sky and the water's edge - complete with elephant, buffalo, egrets, a heron and ducks!
The Sunset at the end of our drive through Chobe National Park
Flat …… on this trip we were reminded of just how flat this country is…
This is a part of a farm in the north of the country in an area called Pandamatanga. We were able to visit Christian friends who are farmers there.
As we drove out across the sand to the Sowa Pan (part of the Makgadikgadi Pans), again we were reminded of 'flat'!
It was spectacular to arrive at the Pan in flood. Right in the middle of Botswana it was water as far as the eye could see!
It may not have been the ocean, but the sandy shore, the gentle lapping of the water and the fresh gentle breeze made us feel like we were at the beach!
Sunset as we drove back from the Pan to the main highway
Looking the other way a few minutes later, as the moon rose amidst the pink hues of the vast Kalahari Sky.
