Yes, a few days back literally millions of butterflies filled the sky above our house as they flew down the hillside - a truly incredible sight - a friend described it as being in a real live fairy tale!
Many different kinds are filling the air although most of those on that particular day were what is called a 'brown veined white'.
But on another occasion I saw a butterfly fluttering around the bougainvillea at the edge of our porch, and it looked a little different from any other I had seen. So I took a photo and then enlarged it on the computer…and yes its a new one for me on this plot….my 50th!
Its a 'Scarlet Tip' (the one below is a female, but the male tip is a much deeper red/orange) - Colotis Danae
And as a bonus, if you look carefully on the wing, one of the spot/blotches is in the shape of a heart - so for the one who loves photographing butterflies, what a special bonus to get this one for the 50th different species in our yard!
Always opportunity in the bush for cause to praise the Creator!!
