Minature Bush Beauty Part 1

In this multi-part series I wanted to show you my discoveries of 'Intricate and Incy' flowers in the Botswana bush.

At first glance after the rains, the bush just looks a mass of green. But hidden in the green, if you take a much closer look, are some amazing tiny flowers.  Most of them are smaller than your thumbnail and some are as small as a pin-head.

Contrasting a distance view with a close up of each flower, I hope you enjoy the array of beauty to be found….and with the benefit of a camera, we can get up very close and see even beautiful designs and colours even better!!

This is kind of an 'object lesson' for me that if we want to really enjoy God, His creation, and His word and know the richness of the blessing that can be ours, we have to take the time to 'get up close'. Superficual glances might bring a little joy, but there is much, much more to take in and be blessed by when we go in further to get a more detailed look!

They have also been reminders that the Creator has put such care and detail into even the tiniest flowers that most people will totally miss seeing, but He sees them. He didn't skimp on beauty just because most people won't notice them!  He does a magnificient job for His joy and glory, whether we are bothered to notice them or go searching for them, or not!  But I'm sure He gets joy in seeing us discover His designs!  So whether we feel noticed by others or not, is not what matters, be encouraged that God sees, and God has created each one of us for His glory, and as we allow Christ to live in and through us, God is making something beautiful of our lives.

Not only that, but there are hundreds of these tiny flowers throughout the bush and each one is as finely adorned as the others.  Just being one of many, doesn't make us any less significant for God's attention to His designs and purposes!

May these be object lessons for you too!

(and for the ones I have managed to find the names, I have included them - thanks to the book 'Wild Flowers of Southeast Botswana' by Gwithie Kirby)

Here are the first ones:

I'll start with the Bushy Bulbine, which we also have used as lovely mass-plantings in our garden, and their delicate tiny flowers

And in contrast, the bright pink Portulaca below
