The other day as I took a quick walk in a section of our garden, I spotted 11 different types of butterflies in the space of just a few minutes!
So I thought you might like to see some more photos (some from that day and some from other occasions), including a real 'prize'….
Firstly, here is the (quite large) Common Diadem
And in the right angle of sun-light, if you look carefully, what looks like a smudge on the back edge of the white spot is seen as a sliver of bright blue
And here is his stunning 'underside'
Then there was this tiny one of a kind of simple and elegant beauty. It's called the 'Common Black Eye',
but again, in the right angle of sunlight the plain brown begins to glisten like gold!
Then, I know I've shown you a glimpse of the Yellow Pansy before (like the Blue Pansy that has spots that change colour to irredescent pink, purple and blue),
but I didn't get a fully in-focus one with the 'colour-changing' spots fully visible before….but here it is!
And now to my 'prize'….I finally snapped some photos of the stunning and famous African Monarch!
And here is a curious fact about the Monarch Butterfly - in the catapillar/pupa stage they feed on the poisonous milkweed plant (what the Bushman use for poison on the tips of their arrows) and then as butterflies they are still full of this poison and so are toxic to birds and animals who decide to eat them!
So good looks can be deceptive!….and deadly! Poison doesn't always look bad!
...there's a lesson there for us all!
But that doesn't change the fact that God created this particular butterfly with its own special stunning design!
And unlike most butterflies that only live up to two weeks, the Monarch can live up to 9 months!

of a short video of the African Monarch
and be reminded of our awesome Creator with the background music of the chorus that goes like this:
His name is wonderful
His name is wonderful
His name is wonderful
Jesus my Lord
He is the mighty King
Master of everything
His name is wonderful
Jesus my Lord
He's the great Shepherd
The rock of all ages
Almighty God is He
Bow down before Him
Love and adore Him
His name is wonderful
Jesus my Lord
His name is wonderful
His name is wonderful
Jesus my Lord
He is the mighty King
Master of everything
His name is wonderful
Jesus my Lord
He's the great Shepherd
The rock of all ages
Almighty God is He
Bow down before Him
Love and adore Him
His name is wonderful
Jesus my Lord
